Land Acknowledgement

I'd like to acknowledge that the land on which I live and work in Haverhill and Boston, Massachusetts is the traditional territory of the Wampanoag and Massachusett peoples and the Pawtucket peoples. I pay my respects to their elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land throughout the generations. As a practitioner dedicated to decolonizing wellness and healing, I am intentional with this statement being one small step in acknowledging the history that brought us to reside on the land, and to help us seek understanding of our place within that history. Today, Boston is still home to indigenous peoples, including the Mashpee Wampanoag and Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). I pay honor and respect to the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous communities and recognize the ongoing struggles for justice and sovereignty. May we continue to learn, listen, and stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples in their journey toward reclaiming their rightful place as stewards of our land. Asé!
